I don't think I'm going to make it.  I heard some of the quotes they read on their most recent episode, and...I don't think I'm going to make the cut.  I heard some of the favorite ones they were reading, and it looks like they're looking for something a lot different from what I'm trying to write.  There were 500 entries; only five or six, with maybe a backup, are going to make the cut.

On the other hand?  I had the courage to submit something.  I submitted something with the intention of being published.  That's a really big step for me.  Maybe I should have edited it more.  Maybe I should have made it worse.  But you know what?

This is a big step for me.  That's something I've never done before.

...I'm going to dust off my old 2010 NaNo and start writing a second draft.  It's what I'll do in May, while I'm letting Monogatari settle.  I've already got Hester's feedback--I just need to work from that.  And give it some plot, while I'm at it.

YEAH

WELP

THAT SURE IS 100% RIGHT THAR

...I am writing a painfully unfunny character whose idea of a joke is calling Nekoi "Necky." .../facetable

i dont need to worry the point is that it reads like twilight that's the goal here it's a draft too oh god oh god oh god

...So how are your weekends going? :D

I'm honestly starting to like the characters in this novel a little bit more than in my last NaNo. The last one I completed was from the perspective of a suicidal, deeply fucked-up individual who just spent the entire book moping around and being whiny and romancing the older single father figure.

Nekoi actually has reason to be emo. Her mother died in a car accident they had while they were arguing (which Nekoi feels responsible for, as she's the reason her mother took her eyes off the road), she's in a country she hasn't even visited in years, let alone lived in, she's starting college in a week, she stumbled over a murder scene, she's had her brain probed accidentally, and she's...currently being held at swordpoint by a guy who's been stalking her because he believes she's the murderer.

...Wow, a lot is happening in the first forty-five pages of this book, isn't it? Welp, time to pull out my own Paranormal Romance Shitty Writing Techniques--repeating words and phrases and awkward metaphors. :D
